Knowing what kind of cable might seem like a small thing, but it’s actually really convenient to be able to use the same cables to charge a few of your devices, like wireless headphones, your smartphone and computer. However, there are some speakers that require a USB-C or AC cable to charge. If you know you’re going to listen to the speaker a lot and you’re also going to have to go days between charges, these are things you should consider before purchasing a portable speaker.Ĭharge: Most of today’s portable speakers need a micro-USB cable to charge. That said, it varies from speaker to speaker. However, you’ll only be able to access the voice assistant when connected to wi-fi or a mobile hotspot.īattery Life: Bigger speakers tend to have larger and longer-lasting batteries. This allows you to use a speaker similar to an Amazon Echo or Google Home, using voice commands to request songs, answer general queries and control smart home devices. Voice Assistance: Some of the newer portable speakers have wi-fi connectivity and support a voice assistant, such as Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant. You can check out how the IP ratings are explained here. The easy way to explain it is that the higher the IP rating of the speaker, the more water-resistant it is - an IP7-rated speaker is more durable than an IP4-rated speaker. And in order to know how water-resistant or drop-proof a speaker is, you really need to understand IP (Ingress Protection) ratings. Sound Test between Bose Soundlink Revolve & Bose Soundlink Mini IIThe music played in this video is at 100 volume on both the speakersYou can also check my. Ruggedness: All rugged speakers aren’t the same. JBL - also a very large speaker manufacturer - sounds absolutely unacceptable by their models 'Flip' and 'Charge' (you will think, only a tweeter is in use without bass and midrange). Drawbacks: If this were only about sound and price, you. Until know I don't know a speaker with better sound refered to the size. Even Amazon reviewers are impressed with a rare 5/5 rating from almost 100 reviewers. The 360-degree speakers are generally better when placed in the middle of a room while mono-directional speakers are better for stereo audio. Bose, you might as well throw those out the window. The two most popular shapes these days are 360-degree (cylindrical) or mono-directional speakers. You also want to consider the shape and design of the speaker. Size and shape: Generally, the bigger the speaker, the louder and better it is going to sound. So there is an advantage to sticking to one flavor if you have that use case in mind. Many portable speakers on this list work with other like-branded speakers for instance, you can pair two Bose Soundlink speakers together or two of Kicker’s Bullfrog speakers together for more of a party (or multi-room) setup. You want to trust that the speaker is not only going to sound good but also last. The Speaker brand: You’ve probably heard of all the speaker manufacturers on this list, which is a good thing.

About Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy (2017 video game) in 2013 and the popular brand of premium sunglasses was integrated into the Luxottica system in 2020. Įssilor bought Daytona Beach, FL, based Costa, Inc. In March 2014, it was announced that Luxottica would partner with Google on the development of Google Glass and its integration into Luxottica's eyewear. In August 2011, Luxottica acquired Erroca for €20 million. Oakley had tried to dispute their prices because of Luxottica's large marketshare, and Luxottica responded by dropping Oakley from their stores, causing their stock price to drop, followed by Luxottica's hostile take over of the company. Luxottica acquired Oakley in November 2007 for US$2.1 billion. Luxottica later increased its presence in the retail sector by acquiring Sydney-based OPSM in 2003, Pearle Vision and Cole National in 2004. The listing raised money for the company and allowed it to use its shares to acquire other brands, starting with Italian brand Vogue Eyewear in 1990, Persol and the United States Shoe Corporation (LensCrafters) in 1995, Ray-Ban in 1999 and Sunglass Hut, Inc. The company listed in New York in 1990, and in Milan in December 2000, joining the MIB-30 (now FTSE MIB) index in September 2003. The first of many licensing deals with a designer was struck with Armani, in 1988. In 1981, the company set up its first international subsidiary, in Germany, the first in a rapid period of international expansion. Ĭonvinced of the need for vertical integration, in 1974, he acquired Scarrone, a distribution company. In 1967, he started selling complete eyeglass frames under the Luxottica brand, which proved successful enough that by 1971 he ended the contract manufacturing business. The new company was Luxottica s.a.s., a limited partnership with Del Vecchio as one of the founding partners. Leonardo Del Vecchio started the company in 1961, in Agordo north of Belluno, Veneto today the company is headquartered in Milan, Italy. On 1 October 2018, the new holding company EssilorLuxottica was born, resulting in combined market capitalization of approximately $70 billion. In March 2018, the European Commission unconditionally approved the merger of Essilor and Luxottica. The combined entity would command more than one quarter of global value sales of eyewear. In January 2017, Luxottica announced a merger with Essilor. Luxottica also makes sunglasses and prescription frames for designer brands such as Chanel, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Coach, Miu Miu and Tory Burch. Luxottica's market power has allowed it to charge price markups of 1000%. Its best known brands are Costa, Ray-Ban, Persol, Oliver Peoples and Oakley. It also owns EyeMed, one of the largest vision health insurance providers. Compared with the carbazole core, the indolo indole core has many advantages. Carbazole is frequently used as a high-performance material for photovoltaic cells, organic field effect transistors, and light emitting diodes, ,, ]. We recently reported an indolo indole core-based polymer solar cell with extended π-conjugation in the carbazole structure. Considering the versatility of small molecules and the few reports of solution-processed SMOPVs, higher performance can likely be achieved through molecule structure design and device optimization, ,, , ]. However, SMOPVs are of particular interest for several reasons, including (1) simple synthesis, high crystallinity, and easy purification (2) well-defined and uniform molecular structures, with less batch-to-batch variation (3) typically high open-circuit voltage (Voc) and (4) structural versatility by facile control of energy levels through detailed chemical structural designs, ,, ]. To date, the performance of small molecule-based organic photovoltaics (SMOPVs) has been lower than that of PSCs. However, solution-processed small molecule-based single-junction OPVs having a PCE exceeding 10% PCE are rare, ,, ,, ,, ,, ]. Polymer solar cells (PSCs) with the most promising bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) architecture have achieved high power conversion efficiencies. Recently, organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have attracted great attention, because of their potential flexibility, light weight, and low material and manufacturing costs, ,, ,, ,, ]. Unconformities are gaps in the rock record that occur because part of the record has been removed (as with erosion), or because no record was created (as with non-deposition). The surface along which erosion has occurred or along which no sediments have been deposited for a geologically significant length of time is called an unconformity. Igneous intrusions and faults are two ways in which cross-cutting may occur. From these observations, we can say that the beds in Figure 2.3 were deposited in the order F, E, D, C, B, A (superposition) faulting occurred along H (horizontal continuity,cross-cutting relationships) and intrusion of G occurred (cross-cutting relationships).įigure 2.3. Notice that there is also an igneous intrusion ( G) that is not cut by the fault. Sometimes a lot of evidence is required to demonstrate that offset layers are part of the same bed. We assume the beds labelled C on each side of the fault (and D)are the same beds on either side of the fault, because we know that they should not end abruptly, and because they have the same composition, as indicated by the patterns. This is an indication that they are cut by a fault ( H), which has moved beds C and D next to beds A and B. For example, in Figure 2.3 below, beds A through F appear to end abruptly. This principle states that geologic features are always younger than the rocks or surfaces that they cut across. The principle of horizontal continuity is often used with the principle of cross-cutting relationships. Beds do not end abruptly-they either change composition slowly where there is a change in environment, or they become thinner and thinner until they “pinch out.” The principle of horizontal continuity states that beds tend to extend laterally over long distances.Taken together, these two rules permit us to say that the beds in Figure 2.2 were deposited in the order E, D, C, B, A, and that the beds were folded. Older materials are more likely to be at the bottom of piles, while more recent additions are likely to be near the top. If you are looking for an item on your desk, the more recently you last handled it, the closer to the top of a stack you will look for it. This is not unlike having a stack of books and papers on your desk. The principle of superposition states that in a sequence of beds that has not been overturned, the beds get progressively younger from bottom to top. This principle implies that if beds are not horizontal, something happened to them after they were deposited to disturb them from a horizontal position.įigure 2.1. Once the irregularities are covered, however, the top of the sediment layer will be basically horizontal (e.g., beds C and D, Fig. 2.1). The bottom of the beds may be irregular if sediments have been deposited on an irregular surface, such the contact between beds A and B in Figure 2.1 below. The principle of original horizontality states that beds form in horizontal layers. The surface shared between the top of one bed and the bottom of the next is called a contact. Sedimentary rocks include rocks whose particles were erupted from a volcano, such as volcanic ash. Sedimentary rocks are deposited in layers, called beds or strata. These rules are called the principles of stratigraphy. Geologists keep in mind four basic rules of thumb when they try to figure out the history of a particular group of rocks. use sedimentary and volcanic way-up indicators to determine the stratigraphic facing of beds. explain what an unconformity is, list the three kinds of unconformities, and describe how they are different.use the four principles of stratigraphy to interpret the geological history of a cross-section.ObjectivesĪfter studying this unit, you should be able to Lesson 3 covers way-up indicators in lava flows, and Lesson 4 covers way-up indicators in pyroclastic rocks. In Lesson 2 you will learn how primary structures in sedimentary rocks can be used to determine way-up, the direction in which rocks get younger. It also covers gaps in the rock record, called unconformities. Lesson 1 covers the principles of stratigraphy-the “rules of thumb” that geologists apply when attempting to create geological histories. In Unit 2 you will learn how to determine and describe the geological history of a group of rocks, including the order in which the rock beds formed and the sequence of events, such as folding and faulting, that may have occurred afterward. One thing I might point out is that, like other Yamaha keyboards, the SY85 is built like a tank in some places but has congenital weaknesses in others. If I want sweeping guitars, I have a JD-800 (god what a guitar sound) and a ZR-76. After months or years you find you have a one trick pony that ends up sleeping under its tarp most of the time. But then, as you point out, even that can only take you so far. I have to admit, beside the passing resemblance to the AN1x, the main thing that sounded attractive about the CS2x is the 64 separate filters, one for each voice. I am only looking for information on any notable differences between the AWM2. Indeed, I want to ignore all the things that make the SY85 superior to the CS2x. I keep my CS2X mostly for one particularly great sounding, grungy-distorted guitar, which from the YT demos I've heard of the SY85, it seems like it has a lot of great guitarish sounds too, but I didn't hear the one particular patch/voice that I love on the CS2X, if it didn't have it or be able to recreate it, then I would probably wind up keeping both synths, just for one dumb patchĪlso, does the SY85 have a dual HPF + LPF filter with distance? HPF with LPF is nice on the CS2X, basically can set their cutoff distance on it quickly since they have separate knobs, or maybe its just two chained filters I'm not sure, but having them paired like they are on the CS2X I think makes for some unique sounding sweeps.Īnyhow, I'm unsure of the prices they go for now days, but have you looked in to the older Motifs, or an RS7000 at all?Įxcellent! Thank you. Not sure about SY85 either, but if you are able to have AWM2 performance sounds across more than one track/channel it would be a no brainer for me, I'd keep the SY85 and forget about the CS2X. There may be an exception there for drum sets on track 10, but unsure of that or if it matters much, been a while since I've sequenced my CS2X. The rest of the tracks/channels have to be relegated to having to use the XG sounds, which arn't nearly as editable. It is at heart mainly just a performance synthesizer. The other thing is, even if you get a sequencer, like a QY70 which does go nice with the CS2x on its tray, but anyhow you are limited to using the CS2X's performance sounds to just one track/channel. The arp on the CS2X is not programmable, you are stuck with the same arps and they are not too bad, but become useless and boring over time. Seems like you want to ignore all the important parts of the SY85, I don't think I could do that, the workstation features would be a huge plus if you don't have something to sequence the CS2X. I've noticed the AWM2 TG in them all can sound quite a bit different from each other since you have to account for the entire synth engine, what comes after the TG, to properly judge each synth's characteristic sound. I've never used an SY85, but have used a lot of Yamaha synths and have had a CS2X for a number of years. Let's hear from anyone who's has first hand experience. I guess it boils down to can the CS2x do anything the SY85 can't do, except play twice as many notes at once? I've been listening to as much video and audio of the two as I can find, but internet quality sound is no measure for comparison. Especially since CS2xs in good condition are going for twice the price of my SY85. But, just generally, comparing the tone of the AWM2 in one to the other, are they the same, or are there marked differences? I was looking to get a CS2x for a long time, and might still, but I just acquired an SY85 for a paltry sum, and I am wondering if a CS2x would add anything notably different to warrant the cost. I suppose the one having 90 types of effect in two separate processors would greatly overshadow the other with only three independent effects. Does anyone know of any tonal differences between these two AWM2 keyboards? Ignore that one is a workstation with a full sequencer, more controls, floppy disk drive, card slots, and aftertouch, and the other has twice the polyphony and an arpeggiator.
